Hi, Gurus,
In my latest post, I asked the shell opt problem for mmwave antenna array.
Actually I am very curious about one problem.
That is, when I want to opt the shell height and thickness for antenna array, I don't know what is the opt goal.
For the array, the beamwidth is small, and gain is very high, everything is perfect,. And even adding a shell, there is not an insertion loss, but with some gain.
I don't know what goal should I set to run the opt.
It is some weird.
Pls comment.
Thanks a lot.
Best,
Tony Liu

The TX beamwidth (when transmit boresight) is not affected by the shell height or thickness, but only the ERP (effective radiated power). Getting the same ERP (or even higher) with the shell, tells that may have something wrong in your simulation. The shell ALWAYS add loss.
I don't think there is a goal for thickness and height of the shell. Thinner and higher as possible is good. Also the Dk of the shell should be lowest as possible. I think Teflon (Dk=2.1) is a good option.
