Which is the commonest footprint for these type of NFETs?

Hello,
We wish to use several 100 NFETs llike NVMTS0D4N04C

However, these kind of fets come in millions of differnet footprints...and if it goes nil-stocked or obselete we've had it. Please do you know what is the "common-est" footprint name for these type of FETs?

(Like "TO220" is a common footprint that you could put loads of different devices in...devices that are essentially the "same".....what is the common-est footprint "name" for the NFET i quote at the top of this post?

Hi,

OnSemi call it 'DFNW-8' and 'Power 88 Package', footprint is 507AP - it even has a footprint datasheet... Lordy, lordy, indeed...

I was curious about the package and footprint - it's certainly an impressive transistor at ~580 A and only 8*8mm - and it looks like it may be unique to OnSemi, this thread briefly discusses its 'uniqueness'.

Personally, if I were a professional, designing for long-term mass production, I'd either request information about 'lifetime buy' production of the part from OnSemi, and if the answer was in the negative, I'd look for a similar part with a standard package to avoid what I think is the reason for your question - no drop-in replacements may exist, so if production were ceased for it or it couldn't be sourced even temporarily, you'd be royally stuck for a replacement - both landing pattern and pinout.

8x8mm Powerpak is offered by several major manufacturers under slightly different package name, the portfolio is nevertheless limited. If you don't need the power respectively transistor area of 8x8 package, I would consider the more popular 5x6 mm SO8 powerpack.

A lot of packages can be accommodated with common footprints. For example, many packages are based off an 8 pin SOIC package, most with a large drain pad. Pretty much any package with "5x6" or "56" in its name will be interchangeable (except maybe for thickness, which may or may not matter for you).

DPAK (TO-252) and D2PAK (TO-263) devices are also very common packages for power FETs.
