microcontroller compare microprocessor

What's their differentia ?
I'm sorry,I don't know!
thank you !

need for microprocessor

Micropocessors; need external preferals to work like
EEPROM for program to be runned, RAM to save data into it, external clock,
external I/O ports and of course collections of buffers, Bi-Directionals,
and decoders.

Microcontrollers; are integerated device contains CPU core, and EEPROM,
RAM, I/O ports, Internal Clock, of course it's functions are weak and slow
if compared with Microporocessors, but they wholy stand alone system

comparing microprocessor and microcontroller

Microprocessor is only the processor and no peripherals are integrated like
memort controller DMA etc.
but the are very high speed chips
where as the microcontroller are integrated with various devices like ADC DAC USB memmory etc the are not so high speed and since every thing is integrated it is easier to use and cost is very less compared to Processors

microprocessor (MPU): only the core processor with no peripherals.

microcontroller (MCU): core processor with lotsa peripherals.

microproccor

micrporocessors need external memory while controllers have there built in memories

wikipi microprocessor & microcontroller

a microcontroller is a true computer on a chip.
it has all the necessary memory, input output controllers, and verything else to make it ready for use.

a microproccor on the other hand is just the processing unit. it is realyy useless without the motherboard.

microcontroller vs microprocessor comparison

when comparison do on processor and microcontroller... processor always seems pitty,,,

IMHO
when it come to processing power... none microcontroller can compare wth it...

it easily outclass all the controller...

The defference between them is becoming less and less with the electronic integration technology development.

Not indeed.

Microprocessor is a microprocessor although is more powerful than microcontroller. Microcontroller indeed is a computer, loosely based, because has everything.

Take one example I/O ports. Computer has them. Microcontroller has them. Microprocessor does not have them. Difference between computer to a microcontroller is level of those I/O ports. There are more differences like power etc. like even ancient computers are faster then a microcontroller for example.

Re: What's the microcontroller and what's the microprocessor

Microcontrollers having builtin memory and general purpose IOs.(You can it switch as serial, parallel, special ,analog, pwm and other.
Microprocessor can you use only with outer pheripherial.

Microcontrollers are used in the field industry control or the embedded application, they have the IO device such as the timer/counter, UART, PWM, AD/DA, SPI, FastIrda etc.
Microprocessors are used in the field computer.

Re: What's the microcontroller and what's the microprocessor

Microprocessor have DATA and ADDRESS bus. Microcontroller - have only IO ports instead.

Re: What's the microcontroller and what's the microprocessor

Hi,

Microcontroller is a system on a single chip, whereas the microprocessor is a chip in a computer system.
Microcontroller with its integrated pheripherals is a low cost chip and is mainly used in embedded systems, which require limited data processing .
Microprocessor is mainly used in general purpose PC's.

The main difference lies in processing speed and data handling capacity.

bubee

wat u mean by stable here.... did u read the reply post by others ?

eg 80186 is a microproessor mean while AM186 is a Mircocontroller which incorprates the 80186 microprocessor core + some more blocks
