Do you know what is the v-i curve for the RLZ2V2B zener diode?
Also, what is the graph of reverse leakage current vs temperature for this 2V2 zener?
Its datasheet (below) doesn't say, but maybe you know?...or you know a datasheet that does?, for a similar zener?
A zener voltage of about 5.6V to 6.8V has the best voltage regulation, 2.2V is poor.
Below 5V a zener voltage has a negative temperature coefficient and above 7V the temp co is positive. The 2.2V zener is poor again.
The 2.2V zener diode is not made by many semiconductor companies. Its 2.2V at 20mA would be a resistor that is 2.2V/20mA= 110 ohms but the datasheet shows only a little better as a voltage regulator.
For a plain silicon diode I created my own V/I graph by testing a real component, then plotting the data. After much head-scratching I matched the curve to a crude equation for volts vs Amperes:
A = (V * 1.25)^20
(As an easy check: apply 0.8 V, get 1 Ampere.)
My equation is not based on the Shockley formula.
Insert different numbers to obtain the equation for an led, or 2.2V zener, or multiple diodes in series.
