DS 1307 with 8051 controller (embedded C code)

I am a new user...I need to work on a project using 89C51 & DS 1307...
i wanted to know the C code for basic reading and writing into the RTC(DS 1307) as im quite unfamiliar with it..

I need to develop a more complex model with computer interface and stuff...but it wud be great if u cud send me a basic ckt diagram along with the C code so that i can understand the working
