Thanks,
Vijay

do you mean software / watch dog timer reset and power ON reset or hardware reset..
there are two kinds of reset a soft reset and hard reset or power ON / reset done by reset switch board.
in hard reset ( power ON or reset switch ) causes the complete reset that means, it completely resets the controller, and it executes the bootloader of the controller, it clears all the registers and other memory in controller and restarts the processor from the begining..
soft reset happens due to watch dog timer reset or software reset..... it does not execute the bootloader and do not initialise all the memory except RAM, only PC is loaded wiith 00 location

e.g.
Soft reset = restarting the phone
Hard reset = reloading the software on the phone.
Power-on-reset: When you switch ON your hardware the controller/processor is resetted as there will be signal at reset pin.
For example in 89c51 we use a capacitor and resistor. So according to the RC constant there will be a High logic for time determined by RC(which resets the controller/processor.
Board reset/Manual reset: It is done by pressing a switch that provides the signal at reset pin of the controller/processor. It is usually to reset the controller in the mid-way with turning OFF the power
