Hey guys I am making a arduino mega (2560) shield which consists of 4 dip ICS and some capcitor and 4 (8pin row)screw terminal ,so im using basically all through hole packages soldered on one.The problem now is that the circuit is big so it cant fit on a single sided board, so I have to build double sided board which I tried but have following doubt: as it is a through how can i solder on both side and can I use single strand wire as a via ? (any link for tutorial or instruction to build 2 layer pcb would be good)
Yes, you can use a single wire as via. I do this every time. Unfortunatelly, I don't know any videos or tutorials...
I don't like to use through-hole components pads as vias, because unless you make a big enough hole, it won't have enough room for both pin and wire. I usually do as in the following image. Every through-hole component is connected in the bottom layer, so its easier to solder, and then I put a via to the top next if necessary.
