2 and 4-quadrant pwm switching diffrences

hi...what is the difference between 2&4-quadrant switching,which is more advantage to drive bldc motor
 

both would be able to drive BLDC motor, even single quadrant can drive it. However if you need regenerative breaking you need 4 quadrant switching.
 

thanku...what are the advantages&disadvantages of both types.how to do the 2&4-quadrant functions.
plz suggest me..if u have any documents regarding this post it...plz...
