2.5KVA home generator is only producing 110 to 120 Volts AC output though output should be around 220 to 230 Vac

Sound looks normal , starting up seems normal .......... rpm seems to be normal

What to check and measure ?

Can AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) be the problem?
 

Maybe that's rated output. Read the plate or the manual.
Or, maybe you need to measure red to black, not either
one of those to white (neutral).

Is there a normal-configuration {dryer, stove, circle-lock}
outlet that you think "should" have the higher voltage?

Low kVa rated generators don't always have 220V output.
My 5kW and 13kW do. An older 3kW I had, did not. With
only 20A at 120V making your rated power, there may be
no good reason for a 220V outlet - it would be limited to
10A which is way short for most US-domestic high voltage
loads (will fail to run stove, water heater, even large window
air units - let alone, start the compressor).
 


No , before it was producing 220 V to 230 Vac output ..........
And its nameplate also confirms that its output is 220 to 230 Vac

Also all the appliances here do work on 220 to 230 Vac and before that problem they all were working fine absolutely with this generator
 

I know this may be silly but does it have a 115V / 230V change-over switch? My generator has two output sockets although only one is active at a time and there is a switch to select which is in use. It basically wires the two main windings on the generator in parallel or in series to give 115V or 230V.

On some small generators the magnetic field in the armature is generated by induced voltages in it being rectified, so DC current in the armature, so constant field. Could be that one of the diodes is open circuit, so low current in the armature, low spinning magnetic field, so low voltage output.

No it doesnt have the switch or change-over switch ........
Might AVR be the culprit causing this issue or any problem with stator winding or rotor winding ?
