hi guys , im recently recruited for design enginner post ... suggest me some areas which i should work on and some books related to it

Re: BEginner

study the circuit knowledge and language(VHDL,verilog) , EDA tool : ncsim.pt.dc !

Re: BEginner

To be a good VLSI engineer, you will need the following 3 essentials
1). Good command in one HDL like vhdl
2). Good command in one programing language like C
3). Good command in one scripting language like perl
The earlier you learn these things the better.
BTW which college are you from?

Re: BEginner

actually i have to develop the concepts so please suggest me some good books on various topics u mentioned..also i want to know ARE majority of people here are experienced guys, i recently joined this forum so plz brief me about it .... one last thing there are many posts for the book "Digital Design Principles and Practices 3e by John F. Wakerly" .should i read it ..i mean is it useful to me as i would be joining as a DESIGN ENGINEER

Re: BEginner

I think design environment is also important.
That is, you need to learn some OS command, such as Solaris, and Linux...and so on.
And suppose AWK is helpful as well.

Re: BEginner

There are many books on Digital. Here are some them...
Digital by charles h. roth,
Digital design By John F wakerly,
Digital fundamental by Thomas L.floyd - prentice hall,
DIgital Electronics by Malvino & Leach,
Digital integratrd ciruits by ken martin.
Get one or two books from this, and learn it thoroughly. Being an engineer, u dont have to put much stress on learning those, u might be knowing almost.

Similarly there are many books on HDL. Some of them are.....
The Designer's Guide to VHDL 2nd Edition by Peter J. Ashenden,
Digital System Design with VHDL by Mark Zwolinski,
VHDL : Analysis and Modeling of Digital Systems by Zainalabedin Navabi,
A VHDL Primer: Third Edition by Jayaram Bhasker,
VHDL: Third Edition by Douglas L. Perry,
VHDL Made Easy! by David Pellerin and Douglas Taylor

Verilog HDL : A Guide to Digital Design and Synthesis by Samir Palnitkar,
A Verilog HDL Primer. Second Edition by J. Bhasker,
Verilog Designer's Library by Bob Zeidman.

Depending on which HDL, your company is working upon, practice that...

You can learn Perl in just one weeks time. You can find Perl Ebooks in the e-book forum.....

Hope u might have learned C & C++ in your school days.....

Its done...!
Good luck......
