120v to 220v AC step up converter - looking for schematic

I ordered an aquarium heater on ebay last month from a chinese seller and it arrived today. I didn't realized it was a EU standard (run on 220-240v, but still have the same 2 flat pin american style connector) until i plugged it in. It seem to be working, but at only 1/4 of the power i guess which is 1/4 of 300w, and will take forever to heat the water at this rate. I know what i need (something like that **broken link removed** but for 300W of course) but i'll rather build it than buy it and having to wait another month for shipping.

So would it be hard to build a 120v to 220v step up voltage converter? I have a lot of old power supply at my disposition, and i know basic electronics/soldering, what i need would be a schematic or tutorial on how to build it.

if your current is around one ampere than u can use Simple Step Up transformer (120v to 220V step up transformer)

i think in that adaptor which is post on ebay website they are also using simple 50W transformer because on primary side around 0.4amp current with 120V
on secondary side 0.22Amp current with 220V in proper casing.

in your case the transformer size little bit increase.

I think it's from an old audio amp, it would made sens as its made by sherwood. I wasn't able to find any spec searching for the # on it. Do you know if this would be ok?

And is there a test i can make to know the ration between primary and secondary?
