concept hdl

hi

whats the difference between Concept HDL and Capture CIS?

for complex high speed designs, is the concept hdl better? why?
i saw some intel motherboard reference designs in capture cis (orcad .dsn files).

cadence concept hdl

That's because of motherboard designer only knows this tool for a long long time.

concept hdl tutorial

Concept HDL is from former cadence, match with allegro
Capture CIS is from former orcad, match with orcad layout

now cadence purchase orcad, so they are integrated in cadence SPB package

and many people like to use Capture CIS for schematic design and allegro for PCB layout

ok, thanx.

so its not bad to use cis+allegro. good. that was my plan.

Hi,
Actually in concept you can set layout constranits in the spread sheet you can define length mating constranits and many more (routing topologies, stub length, via count, propogation delays etc) ... so the schematic designer can also have the control over the signal integrity...
This can also be modified in the layout level also..

In capture there is no well organized spread sheet etc..

export concept hdl to capture

is there a short (20-200 pages) introduction tutorial for the concept-HDL? I have a manual, 738 pages. I just want to have some very basic knowledge about it.

orcad allegro difference cadence spb

now, I have tried both programs.
the CHDL looks coming from Mars or something. The CIS makes sense but the CHDL...
Its OK that there are options to control signal integrity, but there is no reasonable control over schematics design. or it doesnt matter anymore?
the people who made it, they never have seen electronics design/development. Add designator, footprint, pin numbers... seems not supported.
maybe its good if we dont want to design a pcb for that, just stay on concept level with the project. maybe thats why its the name: concept hdl.
:(

concept hdl pricing

I'm wondering, if it is possible to convert the schematics from Concept to Orcad (or vice versa )?

Is it possible to use the export function in the Orcad Demo-Version ?
