I think body offer much high resistance ....so u r circuit will not get complete at all at such a low voltage of 5v ......better to use metal kind of piece
Well it would be safe, be sure that the distance between the wires connected to your skin are atleast 1mm apart just to be sure that they wont short-out. When you build your circuit and it doesnt function, vary the distance between the wires because this may lessen the resistance effect of your skin.
