Wondering what is the path of the current flow during pinch off(MOS)

Hi pbs681

As I know, when a MOS in pinch off,in ideal case, there will have a voltage in stead of current between source&drain:)

When pinch off, Q drops to zero between drain and source.

Hi Micel99 and flyankh,
This pinch off will happen when device at the saturation region and before the charge in the chanell can support inversion region. That's mean there is still current flow. Correct me if I wrong. I just think that the current flow maybe flow through the substrate( not the chanell) into external connection. It is like drift current for BJT. Am i right? pls comment.

The current flows just through the depletion region. The carriers are affected by the electric field formed by some part of Vds.
