I am trying to use an 1n4148 diode as a detector in a radio. It doesn't seem to pass any portion of the 3MHz IF output. The data sheet says it switches at 4nS. That seems fast enough. Isn't it fast enough?

I think you need to show your circuit. If the diode is used in an AM detector then the signal on the cathode will have a large capacitor on it. You won't see the IF and nor would you want to.

Thanks, I realized that after I posted the question. Maybe I should remove it.

There are no silly questions, any question may help someone else in the future.
If you remove the question then the answers left in the thread will have no meaning for anyone that reads them.
