what is AT command?

AT commands are specific commands used to send ,read sms and do some more interesting things on mobile phone ......,you have to connect your mobile phones service port to serial port(USART) of micro controller(some voltage level shifting circuitry is necessary) and send specific at command stream to do your task.many circuit diagrams are available in internet for the same.more about at commands at

All phones support AT-Commands (not all commands, but at least the basic ones). This because AT-commands are for the MODEMs and, all phones have MODEMs.

For myself, I'm using bluetooth dongle and Samsung E770 and E730 cell phones to; send messages, receive messages, make call, reject a call .... etc.

not all cell phone have a modem, and you cannot send at command if modem don't exist,my lg phone, don't have a modem. it's not me have request help!!!,so respond to the poster, not me!!!

so,if good idea to test with dongle before try with bluetooth module,i've tried many phone to do my project(without gsm module). cheap phone don't have a built in modem,or not client enabled by the provider(and firmware),i know,i've tested and talked to the provider, virgin mobile dont allow to use modem

but now i use telit gm 862 module with sim card and no contract, only sms plan with Rogers.

my project is in use at the waterplant in my town

the main idea is to connect between microcontroller with the phone cell, you can use serial mode in microcontroller to connect to the data port in phone cell...
