Monte Carlo analysis for comparator

I have seen in many papers that the authors run Monte Carlo analysis to get comparator offset,but I dont know why we should do these.What's the result we will get after the Monte Carlo analysis? I think it is not a offset voltage but something else.BTW,if the comparator is dynamic type,and there are many switches in it,will the Monte Carlo analysis still valid?

The systematic offset of comparators/opamps are usually only in the uV range, but the random offset from MC analysis often shows it to be in the mV range. In other words, your typical simulation is not indicative of real offset.
For dynamic comparators, you run your MC on transient simulation. It will just take a longer time.

I test the offset in this way: I apply a input to the comparator and run transient simulation to see what input value will cause the comparator to change its state,then the value I use as offset voltage.
As you say,the value I have measured is just systematic offset but not containing the random offset? And what we are more interesting is the random offset because it indicates the real offset,which can get only through Monte Carlo analysis. Am I right?
