Hello guys,

Wish i knew about edaboard long ago, wealth of nice people and info!

I have a question, as I am a programmer, and my electronics skills are something that leaves an aftertaste.

I worked on a circuit for a 10 A variable supply (0-20V or so).

My diagram is here
**broken link removed**

( i have a proposed list of components here **broken link removed** )
The core is LM723 and 2n3055 or better.

Could someone Pretty please have a gander and tell me if it looks ok. It's based on so many other circuits I found, but they were too light in current.

If this one won't work, I don't know what to do, I want to build my bench supply soon!

Kind regards
MarloN

I would put a resistor between base of Q2 and OUT.
Don't think 723 has built-internal current limiting, current supply to OUT comes directly from VC pin. Could put resistor on VC pin instead too I think.

what size resistor?
assume gainof2n3055 15 @10amp
10/15=0.6A Base current
lets say Q2 gain is 60
0.6/60=10mA
at Vout=20V, roughly, Q2 base 18.6V.
B1 would be say 24V, so (24-18.6)/10mA =540ohm ~ use 470ohm

essentially must limit current out of OUT pin to << 150mA by means of
resistor.

hope i got that right.

good luck

Thank you Xaccto.
I didn't even consider that, assumed the 723 was ok in that regard.
Im going to try the resistor insert, and prototype it. If everything else looked ok to you, then Im willing to risk it :D

Kind regards
Marlon
