hi I need to build a power limiter circuit.
The circuit should be such that, if the load draws power between 20to 200 Watts then the circuit should allow it. If the load draws more power it should cut off the supply. The load runs at 220V.

I think this can be done by limiting the current. Any ideas that you can share?
Thanks in advance.

Isn't there a simpler non-microprocessor type of solution?

Try to get some Polyfuses or resettable fuse, and connect them in series as per the load you need it to allow. For more info on polyfuses, you may have a look at the article downloaded fron this link.

Thank you for your suggestions but I not only need a circuit that cuts the supply, but reconnects it when the load draws power within the allowed range as well, so I dont think a fuse would be appropriate

Please tell me if there are any other ideas as well

By the way, is an Electronic Load Controller (ELC) the thing I need for this purpose?

Resetable fuse shows a high impdance once current will go beyon operatimg limit, once current will come under limit, it will again behave as a short.
Search on net. You can get varius range by BOURNE.

I stongly guess you didnt download or had a look at the papers in the links given by me. Actually Polyfuses wor as you have mentioned. Mean its "a circuit that cuts the supply, but reconnects it when the load draws power within the allowed range as well". All in a small size just like a capacitor...Cheers
