read & convert a text file to binary

i want to read at text file & than convert it to binary forme it there any fuction like we use in the sound(wavread,wavwrite)..&in the image(imread&imwrite) ..so if there is a simullary fn. for the text file plz tell me

Please tell more. The context of your problem is not clear. What program or programming language are you using? What do you mean by text/binary file or form (if that's not clear from what you use)?
 
srry coz the topic is not clear...the used program is matlab..in matlab i can read an image with (imread) to numbers & than convert them to binary..we can do that also with a sound (wavread)..is there any fn. in matlab to do the same in a text file?? thx u
 
It depends on how the text file is formatted. If the data in the file are arranged in a complicated manner, the solution may be also complicated. :)
