power inverter design

Hi all.

I am designing a 1KVA, 12VDC to 220V RMS AC, Sine Wave digital power inverter.

It should be low cost, Sine Wave (PWM) design with good load regulation. Extras like pulsed battery charging are welcome.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest 24V.

Well, the design is delayed right now. We have achieved following :

1. 50 Hz Sine Wave PWM via 90s2313 AVR.
2. Used this as a reference to Comparator, and another comparator input came from the Inverter transformer output.
3. Comparator interrupt is used to switch the corresponding mosfet banks on or off. Generated 220 Volts.
2. Achived regulation on resistive and inductive loads.
3. THD of output is <4% for resistive loads (Lamps) and <10% on the inductive loads (Fans).
4. The regulation is good and fast, even when the Fans were operated on dimmer, which chops off the part of the sine wave.
5. 12 volt batteries were used.
6. total cost of the components excluding the power inverter transformer and the batteries, is under US$ 15!

Battery charging etc. was not done. The project was delayed for indefinite time due to engagement in other big projects.

Hello asit,
can u give some characteristic for the 1KVA transformer.
i recently found one microwave oven with the magnetron broken, but the transformer is ok, and I would like to use this transformer for a similar project. Any other infos are welcome; if u have the time.

Well, We tested our design on a 500 VA inverter transformer with CRGO core. I think the magnetron transformer outputs around 2KV and it will not be suitable for the purpose.
