I have a chip capacitor and resistor using 1206 package and I need to know the footprint dimensions for the same....are there standard dimensions?

Manufacturers give slightly different dimensions for PCB footprints and the part frame, that should be kept free from other parts, but they are rather close. You can check with major vendors, e.g. Vishay.

Mostly they comply with standards. you can find the dimensions at manufacturer's application notes of that specific capacitor
