hi friends

I'm using P89V51RD2 IC and i want to programme it.I've Flash Magic,
When i press U to get into programming mode, i'm replied back by getting U, but after sometime i'm getting error like Unable to communicate(transmit/recieve).
Whats the problem and pls help me in this regard,,,,

programming p89v51rd2

May be its problem with Controller. Its not identifiing device ID. Replace the controller.

you wiil want to look at your baud rates. They need to match.

dear friends
I tried every possible things in programming p89v51rd2bn IC, i lowered the baud rate and tried, it starting earsing blocks and strarted programming as well, but after some time, it stops poping a window as unable to communicate(transmit/recieve), Prior to all these things, i'm getting error for reading the signature of the device as well, which i ignore clicking "yes" to them and i proceed,

guys please help me in this regard,,,

I am using the same controller and flash magic 4.62 it works fine.

rc circuit 10uf and 8.2k

so what may be the problem and do u think any problem with my development board,,,,,

But since its erasing, its means its Ok right? And What to do, its not reading the signature of the device as well,

where do i get the latest Flash magic and detailed procedure to programme it,,

you need to check and DOUBLE Check the following connections on your board:

1. Max232 circuit. Are the right capacitors installed properly?

2. Reset circuit. Reset must be able to go high (AND STAY THERE reliably) when the device is in programming mode. Do you have an RC circuit on the reset pin? If so what is it? You should have an 8.2K resistor from rst to GND and a 10uF capacitor from rst to VCC. Some development boards use one of the serial port pins to reset the device. If this is the case, you can lift the pin and tie it directly to VCC via a resistor, during programming. (only for troubleshooting your problem, not permanently)

3. PSEN must be low before power is applied to the micro controller. That is, by using a switch (nothing else), connect PSEN securely to GND. If the circuit is powered up first, then psen is brought low, it will NOT enter boot mode and if it does it probably won't stay there.

4. P2.6 & P2.7 should be brought high with a 10K resistor or left floating. Under no circumstances should these pins be brought low during programming.

If all of the above check out, you should have no trouble at all.

Good Luck

Goto Options > Advance Opttion > Hardware Config >

Uncheck the Box . .. USE DTR to Control RST

if you have other ic installed on your board removes all of them they might be consuming more power....
just try with the controller and the rs232 ic

Dear friends, Thanks for ur support and guidence.

Due to my USB to RS232 cable i was not able to communicate with my RD2 IC, though it was working fine with my desktop PC, i had problem with my Laptop, now that i purchased a new cable and tried programming the IC, everything worked just fine, Indeed it was very nice to explore as many things a possible to communicate with RD2 IC,

thanks for everyone, CHEERS!!!
