What does diversity order in a wireless sytem mean ?

Diversity order

Hello,
What do we mean when saying "diversity order" in a wireless sytem? I know that it means the number of paths between the source and the desitination. But, what is/are the condition/s on each path to consider it in the diversity order account?

If each path can be resolved seperately:

A path can be resolved if:

it is received in different time, frequency, or space.

Diversity order

for deriving the diversity order in an analytical way you should have your BER formula. when SNR tends to infinity the slope of BER vs. SNR in logscale shows the diversity order.
for example -20dB/dec slope shows one diversity order. -30dB/dec shows 1.5 diversity order: this means that some paths have correlation with each other and cannot yield to exactly two order diversities
