Hi,

What precaution we have to take for placement & routing of Tuner section ?

If its mutillayer board then GND & VCC separation is required ?

Also what is the min clearance required with other digital sections on main board ?

Any other suggestions for RF layout are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Byeee

Is it a tuner block or implementing tuner in the board?

GND & VCC separation is always required

min clearance of other digital sections on main board, depends on layer stack-up and target line impedance.

Hi,

Thanks 4 the reply..

A tuner is a circuit module or free-standing equipment .It is used in TV to detect the chanel frequencies.

Now we r planning to plce this section on motherboard. We have seperated VCC & GND on outer layers. Also Power plane & GND plane partitions are done. Clearance with all other sections on main board is 3-4 mm ( 120-150 mils).

Any further precautions we have to take while routing ?

Dear, if you are using tuner module yo do not need to worry about rf! Except anttena, there is no rf indeed, correct if it is wrong!
be carefull about interfenec from other component.

If you are mounting a silicon tuner onto the main PCB you will need to let us know what frequencies it will cover and what PCB materials and stackup will be used.

Dropping thickness between route layer and gnd plane will reduce track widths, but you should try and do this around a core instead of pre-preg as it is easier to control the seperation.

If you are using a tuner module, you also need to watch if you have a single ended output at BB, or if the output is on IF and a differential or IQ output. Those routings need some consideration.

Lot more information needed really before can give good advice.

- In the case of silicon tuner, do we still need to worry abot rf signals?

- What is the frequency of IF signal at tuner output? What special consideration we should take?
