cadence 16

hi

if i draw a trace, or move an object or do anything in cadence allegro 16, nothing happens, but if i zoom in/out, then its already visible what i have done.
so during editing, i cant see what i am editing, only after zoom...
screen is not real-time. why is it?
how can i make it visible during editing?
there wasnt such problem with allegro 15.7. is it some opengl bug? i have intel graphics, 965chipset.

allegro user preferences

Is it 16.0? I have heard of some bugs with this release.
Now Cadence has 16.2 out there. Have you tried installing any hot fixes?
Or maybe as you said it could be open gl bug....
Have you checked your set up?

allwgro16+vista

actually its also installed on another PC with windows XP and works fine. my new PC has windows vista.
allegro 16.0, yes.

cadence allegro 16 windows 7

So another reason not to get Vista-):

M

cadence allegro 16.2 vista

the only way to buy a new laptop, is with pre-installed vista. :(
it was not my choice.

allegro opengl windows cadence

Sure you do have choice. There are few vendors on line that either sell with XP or no OS. SO you can load your own OS.

:D

allegro 15.7 and vista

ok.
i already have it.
how to make the allegro work on it?
set something in windows, or in allegro, about graphics driver usage?

cadence allegro+16.x to 15.x

What graphics card do you have in your laptop? In 16.X Cadence moved to OpenGL and I have heard that OpenGL doesn't work real well with the integrated Intel video cards. You can disable the OpenGL by going to Setup->User Preferences then select Display\OpenGL and select the disable_opengl. You might want to give this a try and see what happens.

cadence allegro opengl

hi

thanks, it was working.
actually in the user preferences menu, it wasnt display/opengl, but just opengl

hi
me again.

if i disable opengl, it works, but the shapes/polygons are striped. with opengl they would be solid-looking smooth colored.
the same with allegro 16.2

so, what to do with the opengl to make it work?
the intel graphics adapter that i have (965) has a few settings, like asynchronous flip...
i have no idea what they mean.

Hi, buenos, what's ur OS,
I've same problem with same graphic card(gm965) in windows 7.
My allrgro is 16.2 with lastest Hotfix_SPB16.20.022 installed
My laptop is IBM X61 talet.
Anyone could help? great thanks.

acer aspire 5720 laptop.
core2duo, 2gb ddr2, 15.4", gm965/x3100 graphics, vista home premium.

If not solved Yet then try disabling everything that has to do with OpenGL.

It sucks so badly, that it is a shame they released it before testing, ups did i hear someone speak Microsoft :).

Vista has some other flaws when it comes to permissions. Administrator does NOT have fully admin rights unless he right-click and say run as administrator. MS SUCKSSS.

if i disable opengl, then its working, but only in the old style: the shapes are striped instead of solid, which is annoying.

Hi everybody!

I've just stumbled upon old but very interesting topic which also gave me some headaches.

With intel integrated graphics larger crosshair curssor and probably some other stuff also will work ONLY on ONE of TWO displays.

You can switch which is primary display in settings.

For the other opengl related issue, the same crosshair cursor leaves traces issue, that is caused by desktop composition option, i.e. transparent window frame, called AERO, on vista and win7.

You can lookup allegro.exe from startup menu and in settings disable destop composition on this program.

Then on startup of allegro windows will change from aero to plain and cursor will work ok.

Another MAGIC fix for this second issue is:
set infinite_cursor_bug_nt
and voila, works as advertised ;)
But i'am not sure in which version/isr that got implemented.

But i remember that 16.0 or 16.01 had some minor issues here or there where small piece of trace couldn't be seen unless large zoom was applied at point of drc.
it was fixed few isr's later.

Enjoy your newfound knowledge ;)

regards,
Matija

Hi Buenos,
I am wondering if you could solve the issue finally.
I have the same problem with Q965 chipset.
Regards
Massoud

if i remember correctly, i had to disable directx. then the graphics features (like transparency...) were not available but at least it worked.
now i have a new PC with ATI graphics, and it works fine.
