convert seconds to hrs

how does 3725 seconds become 10 hrs 20 min 57 sec.............can anyone explain me this conversion step wise??

Re: convert seconds to hrs

Hi Joe,

What happened? First of all your number should be 37257 secs.
Step wise you do continued division with 60. The remainder after first division will be seconds. Now if you divide the quotient by 60, the remainder is minutes and the quotient is hours and if you divide further by 24......

Laktronics

Re: convert seconds to hrs

Like laktronics said, for 10 hrs 20 min 57 sec it must be 37257sec.

Here the calculation:

37257sec : 60 = 620.95min => 620min

37257s - 620min * 60sec/min = 57sec or
0.95min * 60sec/min = 57sec

=> 37257sec = 620min and 57sec

now the remaining 620min:

620min :60 = 10.333h => 10h

620min - 10h *60min/h = 20min

=> 620min = 10h and 20min

===> 37257s = 10h, 20min and 57sec

convert seconds to hrs

37257div 3600= 10
(37257 mod 3600) div 60= 20
(35257 mod 3600) mod 60 = 57

Re: convert seconds to hrs

thank you for helping

Re: convert seconds to hrs

Its like

7/3 = 2 1/3

(state and progress both)
It is a perfect example i guess

Re: convert seconds to hrs

Always remember to divide by 60, not 100. Time is weird like that. Why cant there be a metrc time system. I guess the closes thing to it is military time

Re: convert seconds to hrs

Hmm, our time system is originated in the history. Unfortunately for us they used not the decimal system.

I think changing the time to the decimal system (e.g. 1 hour has 100 minutes and 1 minute has 100 seconds) is nearly impossible.

convert seconds to hrs

Just imagine this,

IF on a traditional ROUND clock, every minute will take 100 sec which means that the second hand would have to move a smaller angle each time in order to maintain the same timing as a 1min =60 sec.

Re: convert seconds to hrs

the conversion should be done steps by steps as under
hours
(37257 / 3600)= 10 hrs
minutes
((37257 mod 3600) / 60)= 20
seconds
((35257 mod 3600) mod 60) = 57

Re: convert seconds to hrs

it has been made quite simple by detailed answers that have been posted.
