hi,

how can i display some text on a screen using an FPGA...?!

thanks in advance,
salma

yes you can. If you have a display CRT, like computer monitor, you can look here or here or search this forum. You will simply write a VGA controler in your fpga.

Or you can use a display, such as graphical one or character one. This, i think it`s easier. You will just write the logic to select instruction/program pin, read/write and backlight pin. With a Altera Max 3032 you can easily do this. If my answer does not makes you clear, ask again.

Breno

hi breno

thanks a lot..

i want to implement it on a computer monitor...not to display graphics, but display text...as if it's a computer screen having a text file appearing on it...

i'll look more under vga controller :)
thanks again

Breno's second link includes my simple examples of displaying text on an 800x600 computer display using the Xilinx/Digilent Spartan-3 Starter Kit board. One example displays a repeating alphabet, the other inputs text from a keyboard.

yessss
i saw it
thanks a lot
it's very informative and useful...i bookmarked it already!

be sure that i'll get back to you if i'm stuck :D
already i need to display text that it's in a text file, not from the keyboard, so i guess a big part is eliminated and it's easier now :)

thanks again
