hfss wire

hi all,
Anyone can teach me draw helical wire in HFSS step by step?
Thanks,
John

helical wire

Hi

Draw a circle for example in (x,y,z)=(radius,0,0).

Right click choose view and select fit all.
Mark the circle and then select "draw helix" in the top bar menu. This will make a helix with a radius with a center i (x,y,z)=(0,0,0). If this is unappropriate you can define a new coordinate system.

You can choose between dx, dy and dz, this desides in which direction the helix will go.

Hope this helps
Regards

how to draw helix

I have done it.Thanks.Tyassin.

Do you know what kind of pattern an helical antenna whose diameter is 10 cm has?

A cos pattern?

A delta pattern?

Thanks in advance. It's very important to me.

drawing a helix in hfss

Helix antennas are discussed here regularly ....(use search)...

Kraus, "antennas" is a wealth of information on this (and other) antenna types

Where can I find this book?

draw a line or a circle and then use the helix command and mention the different parameters.

Kraus' book titled "Antennas for all applications" is a popular and wellknown reference for antenna designers. It should be easy for you to find it in bookstores. In fact, Kraus is the inventor of helix type antenna.

wire helix

I tried to do,what is needed for drawing a helix but HFSS gives an error such as : Body could not be created for part because of invalid parameters to cREATEhELİX operation.
I will be glad ,if you can say what can I do?

i try to follow your order.. but still i get this error..

Acis error: "Failed to sweep the object."
Body could not be created for part Circle1 because of invalid parameters of this part or some of its parent part/coordinate system
Acis error: "Failed to call api_sweep_with_options.. Acis Error 93009 - The helical sweep results in a self-intersecting body
Body could not be created for part because of invalid parameters to Helix operation.

i don't know but i read other tutorial, but find nothing...

I had the same problem...drawing my helix.......using the steps mentioned

Can any body help in this regard?

Thanking you in anticipation

Dear Lupin.

Helix is one of the easiest to construct and has wide bandwidth.coming to your question of what kind of pattern does a helix have. helix is modelled as a loop with 'N' number of elements in an array.
so that pattern of a helix is cos function.i have a Mathcad file to calculate the equations necessary to model a helix, and has the radiation pattern as well. let me know if you would like it.

hope that helps.

Best Regards
Rotmanlens.
