installing full xp version on laptop

Hi
i want to install windows XP on my laptop (DELL Latitude D630) \.
i insert CD and it boot . after some minutes a blue page apprear that written on it that hard disk not found and restart your computer.
i don't know what is the problem??!!!! i have windows vista on it and it works correctly, but XP doesn't install in it. (i want to format the hard and replace vista with XP).

dell latitude d630 don install xp

seems that it's a SATA drive and the drivers are not included in XP.
There are some tools available to include these drivers into the XP CD.
Search the net for 'xp-iso-builder' or 'n-Lite'.

This is not necessary if your laptop's got a floppy drive (i don't think so). Then the SATA drivers can easily be loaded by pressing F6 when booting from the XP CD.

latitude d630 windows xp cd boot

Hi,
This problem is due to the fact thant XP cannot identfiy SATA hardsiks without a driver.

the solution is :
go to the setup(BIOS) you will find something related to the hardisk controller called AHCI or something like that, change it to IDE after that reboot your computer and install XP after installing XP . download the sata driver from the manufacturer (DELL) and install it then reboot and go to the BIOS and change the IDE back to AHCI.
