inset feed

Dear Friends,

Due to some difficulties, I changed my design procedure to Inset Feed. I am designing an Active Antenna working about 2.5 to 3.5 GHz.

For my frequency, I evaluate my patch dimensions, but when I put the feed line and connect it to the patch, fr changes!

I was wondering if it is possible for you to introduce a reference to me. Is there any reference in which I could get some information about designing this kind of antennas?

Thank you for your consideration.

antenna inset feed method technique

coaxial feed are easy as compared to Inset feed.
You can check Bhatia book on Microstrip antenna published by Artech House.It is a good reference for microstrip feed design.

inset fed microstrip

Dear atul,

Thank you very much for your reply.
But, due to fabrication problem, I should design Inset fees. Do you know any reference in this regard?

Many Thanks.

inset fed patch anteena

refer to the below doc ithink it will help u

microstrip insed-fed antenna

i am designing the patch to operate at 10GHz using inset feed method now the problem i am facing is when i change the width Wf of the insed feed the resonant frequancy chages can anyone pleasee tell what should be the value for Wf .the best value of s11 i have been able to achieve is -20db i need to improve that further

inset fed

how to i calculate value of Wf can anyone help me please

how do i calculate the valued of L,W,Wf.can any help me please. do we have any formula

how to calculate inset gap

Hello

To calculate the value of wf i.e the width of microstrip line, we can refer Antenna theory-analysis and design by balanis, page num 734, This book is good for beginners. wf is related microstrip line feed's characteristic impedance (Zc).

Varying microstrip line width introduces junction capacitance which is the cause for variation of resonant frequency.

dear friends,

can some1 help me how to design network models for inset fed microstrip antenna..I'm very confuse how to generate the model in terms of inductance and capacitance..

my design is at 2.4 GHz frequency band..

dear mounika,

u can refer balanis book..antenna theory 3rd edition page 866..
this page describe clearly how to design array using either tapered line or quarter wavelength transfomer..

inset fed method

You can use a Half the wavelength as Length(L)
L=lambda/2=c/(2*Er*Fd)
where c=light velocity.
Er=dielectric constant of the substrate.
Fd= design frequency.

use the relation W*L=1.25 for the width of the Patch.

Now coming to the inset. You could have any value ranging from L/3 to L/2 for a good approximateed response.
So if are using any Optimization tool, use L/3 and L/2 as the limits.

This method has been tested for frequency frequencies around 2GHz.
Check for your frequencies and let me know if it works.

Thanks
Rakesh

design of inset feed line

Hi rshirodk...

hmm.. confused with the equation below to calculate size inset feed of patch?
You can use a Half the wavelength as Length(L)
L=lambda/2=c/(2*Er*Fd)
where c=light velocity.
Er=dielectric constant of the substrate.
Fd= design frequency.

use the relation W*L=1.25 for the width of the Patch.

for equation above W*L =1.25, W will be >>L, am i right?

i also wanna know how calculate the gap (slot for inset feed) between feed and patch

TQVM :D

hai........ u can use lincalc it is available in the ADS software if u give the frequency it will give u the width and length automatically.....

can any one help me to design a patch with Er=2.33,h=4.8mm,Fr=2300MHz to abtain 200MHz bandwidth at a good VSWR plz specify the technique

CST Help (Square Loop Antenna)

The port I use has impedance 150 ohms, and I have frequency resonant at 865.5Mhz. But if I change port impedance value, it miss resonant.
I can't change port impedance to complex value 10-245j!. The RFID chip has impedance 10-245j at resonant frequency.

Plz help to match between antenna and IC?
