output drive strength

Hi, every one here:

I'm Scott, I need ur help!!
I frequently met problems associated with driving strength when performing synthesis using synopsys DC in the past.

As i konw, drive strength affect area, timing and power consumption if it's not properly constrained using command such as set_load, set_drive/set_driving_cell.

Could anyone here explain it clearly for me and thanks you in advance!

Tell me how can get the resources about driving strength if preferred!!

drive strength is the "current capacity" of the cell.

If ur using DC for doing synthesis, then plz refer to
1) DC_user guide or the DC_manual
2) PT manuals

Rather than helping u with few sentences of the same topic, its better & much more informative if u go thru these manuals .... therz a detailed explanation of the same concept !!

Still if u r facing with ne problems, lemme know ... i can for sure help u !

Hi
you can think driving strength as the no of outputs it can drive with same strength. It also depends on the wire inter connections.

Correct me if i am wrong

Thanks and Regards
Deepak

hi Lakshman,
thanks for your help, i will do according to ur suggestion!
i will ask for help if i have problems.

Re: what is drive strength?? I'm confused about it. Pls help

I think, the strongger driving strength, the bigger current , the faster delay in the same loading condition.

More drive strength means the cell can drive more load at the output. It helps to improve the rise & fall time.
