hello

Why SiGe process is always used in RF technology

A+

Re: SiGe

it is mainly due to their mobility.... they have more mobility than the iii-v group combination that is normally used... also the noisy nature of Ge is lowered by Si and the higher mobility nature of Ge takes care of speed.....

Re: SiGe

Hello,

Silicon Germanium (SiGe) process designs simultaneously improving the power consumption, sensitivity, and dynamic range of a receiver...hence used for cellular handsets and other digital, portable, wireless communication devices development ....
with application to products such as:

Inexpensive safety systems for automobiles, including radar at up to 24 GHz for collision warning or advanced cruise control.
Wireless voice and data handsets at 1.8 GHz and beyond, with both RF and digital subsystems on a single chip.
High-speed A/D and D/A converters for data acquisition, direct-to-baseband radio receivers, signal synthesis, and more.
Low-cost, portable Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) receivers.
Other innovative high-frequency products as the imagination and market evolve.

Re: SiGe

because it is faster than cmos and cheaper than any non-Silicon process.

SiGe

fT and gain of SiGe is higher than CMOS..
