does anyone know where i can find a free programmer ( circuit and shematics and ... ) for 89S51 ?

Use AT89ISP from ATmel

LPT (in) 74LS2244 (out) MCU

1 ---> 6,8(with R10K pull up) --->12,14 ---> R47ohm ---> SCK
2 ---> 2,4(with R10K pull up) --->16,18 ---> R47ohm ---> SCK
10 ---> R47ohm --->9 ---> 11 ---> MOSI
17 ---> 13,15,17(with R10K pull up) ---> 3,5,7 ---> R47ohm ---> RST
9 connect with LPT pin 11

Do you understand ? It 's work 100%.

isp programmer 89s51

Hi May

I tested your circuit ,but it did not work with @tmel ISP software.

When I run the software the first thing that I see is this message box that says:

" DLPORTIO.SYS device driver not loaded .Port I/O will have no effect"

I think the port i/o of isp software does not work ,is there a way to solve my problem?please help me.


I installed isp software in win xp .

s52 aec programmer

dlportio.sys is a device driver that allows programs to access the parallel port under win/nt, xp and 2k. this is a must if u are using a third party sftwr to access parallel port. i searched and found this place from where u may dwnld it:

Did anyone consider about the parallel port being locked under WinXp?

Any way, for the programming of 89S52 youll only need a buffer, like 74hct and some resistors.
As for soft a simple downloader will do the trick.

I'll be back soon with such a package.

I tried the programmer and software from **broken link removed** and it works. Sometimes the hardware won't work if the parallel cable being used is too long. My cable is less than half a meter.

You should try this, it is good. I use it all the time :). It works in win98 and winxp. It's free. And you dont need any components other than a DB-25 jack and cables!

According to me this type go serial port programmer works well,

So we can concentrate on doing more better work rather then fiddling around to program ICs from parallel port and not 100% working every time.

If possible try and get a Universal programmer...
Otherwise there r ckts available in the net that would help u to design a programmer along with its relevent software

I'm sorry, i must disagree with you. For the AT89S family, programming is done using ISP. The AEC_ISP programmer is only a cable, there's no circuitry in there, and needs no external power. It is almost the same as the AVR ISP cable. If you need something really quick and cheap, i think this AEC_ISP is a very good option.

ps: the cable connection from LPT to the AT89s can be found in the AEC_ISP software
