what is difference between OTA and OP-amp?

I think they are same architecture.

why different name?
 

difference between ota and op amp

from my understanding, it is called ota when it only drives capacitive load

In simple terms,
Op-Amp is Voltage Controlled Voltage Source
OTA is Voltage Controlled Current Source
 

difference between op-amp and ota

add something:

OTA's output resistance is very large.

while OPAMP's is small.
 
difference between op amp and other amplifiers

OTA is a TRANSCONDUCTANCE amplifier which means that it's GAIN is given by Io/Vin=A (For a certain Voltage input you will have an output current Io which will be A times Vin). This means that the output current is independent of your load value (in theory).

an OPAMP is a Voltage to Voltage amplifier. Its GAIN is given by Vo/Vin=A, which means that the output voltage it's independent of the load attached to the circuit.

Op-Amp is Voltage Controlled Voltage Source
OTA is Voltage Controlled Current Source

Op-Amp is Voltage Controlled decive
where as OTA is Current controller device
 

ota versus op

OTA is opamp without buffer.
Opamp can drive high capacitive loads and resitive loads whereas OTA can drive only small capacitive loads
