Hey,
In the basis CMOS inverter ( having NMOS and PMOS ) what ll happen when both the transistors r in saturation and what ll be the output.. Will the circuit behaves as voltage divider in this case???..
Can u explain in detail..

Thanks in advance.

CMOS inverter...

If both of PMOS and NMOS are in saturation region, the Inverter becomes a amplifier. In this case, the voltage of output determines upon the retio of PMOS and NMOS. and the static current from VDD to VSS is the largest at the operating period of inverter.

Re: CMOS inverter...

In that case inverter behaves like an amplifier, this region you want to pass as fast as posible. The bounderies of this region determines the Voh and Vol and Vih and Vil and noise margins...

So when you apply, usualy and best, Vdd/2 on input, you will get an amplifier. On output you will also have Vdd/2... In this case you can call it voltage devider.

Re: CMOS inverter...

Yes, what ll happen when both the transistors are in saturation, the two mosfet

behave as a divider. the output is Ron(nmosfet)/(Ron(nmosfet) + Ron(pmosfet)).

best regards

Re: CMOS inverter...

this would be a push-pull amplifier
