i have a problem with my computer...

first of course, i open the AVR, after that i press the switch to open the computer unit... ok here's the prob, when i press the switch, i have to wait for several minutes before the system opens, that was the problem i encountered last few days... the worst thing right now is that i have to wait for several hours before it opens.

i need to fix it before the finals, plsss i need help... tnx

Re: PC problem...

look very close and carefully to the mb for inflated electrolytic capacitors.
if everything seems to be ok, replace the power supply

Does this happen everytime you fire up your pc?

If it does...

1. You might have an issue with your memory ...or your motherboard...

I have experience once that my dell pc sometimes it turns on for a couple of times..but when I turn it off and power up again..there's no power at all dead pc.

What I did is to make plenty of troubleshooting like taking the add on hardware one by one. It's a tedious job but that's the best way you can fix your pc.

First pull out your RAM if you have 2 leave 1 on slot and see how it goes..and do it with again and again by changing the RAM with different slots...

And do it with the rest of the add in cards, etc.

And you will easily spot who's the culprit is.

Re: PC problem...

tnx for your advices and concerns,

i had already fixed my pc, first i checked the switches and i also removed other hardware. i found an inflated cap beside the processor, i do nothing with that cap. i also did some cleaning. i did not figured out the real prob but after taking and returning the hardwares, it all went ok... hehe :D

anyway, what should i do with that inflated cap... tnx

Re: PC problem...

becuase your problem disapperared after u have taken off some hardware and put it back, i suggest you 1st to check if the antivirus is enabled in the bios boot and disable it.
if its not enabled, i suppose u had some dust in a free memory slot
as about the cap, it ll explode dont worry (just kidding, but a good day it will not filter some IC power and the result will be the same - dead PC.

Re: PC problem...

i think i really nid to replace the caps...

my prob is regarding the wattage rating of the solder, the temperature and how long should i let the board be exposed to solder temp that other components be not harmed???

i'm using my 16W solder doing some projects, but when desoldering some recycled components like from speaker amplifier or replacing some components, i nid to hold the solder several seconds for the lead to be completely melted, well some other components were not harmed... somehow i have 20W for that job...

tnx

Re: PC problem...

some time problem came from memory in the socket memory and vga card pin got dirty. you can use pencil rubber clean that pin and put all back to the place.
