I analyzed oscillator circuit yesterday.

some oscillator circuit have no latch at the output but many oscillator circuit have latch circuit at the output of oscillator.

If I put the latch circuit to the output of oscillator, clock signal is divided by half.

following picture is oscillator circuit & its waveform.

in my opinion, Latch circuit is not necessary in the oscillator circuit.

Without Latch circuit, oscillator circuit could work properly.

Nevertheless, some oscillator have latch circuit. I guess it must be reasonable ground.

Why did somebody put the latch to the output of oscillator?

thanks

maybe for good duty cycle

usually, the comp output is saw-wave or sin-wave, a schmitt triger is needed when output it to square-wave, rs-latch can also used as a schmitt triger.
if divide by 2 used, you must need 50% duty cycle, as mists said.
