For which FPGAs?
For many users, Xilinx WebPACK and Al.tera Qu.artus II Web Edition are "best" because they contain everything you need (for small FPGAs), and they are free.

If u are looking for FPGA synthesis tool, I would suggest u to go for Precision Synthesis or LeonardoSpectrum from Mentor.

These tools are very good for FPGA synthesis.

Else, u can use tools which was suggested by echo47 and it's free.

most of the people are useing synplicity's synplify pro.
but some time synthesis is device dependent, i meen if you ar using xilinx device the you can go for xst some time (not all the time) it will give beter results than synplify pro.

can anyone upload user guide or some related material on synplicity_primier
thanks
Shiv

i have used Xilinx 10.1 webpack as a VHDL synthesis tool. But there was a problem with the synthesis of VHDL-AMS ??
Is there any advance Xilinx webpack or tool that could be used for VHDL-AMS??
