poly phase

the advantage of polyphase systems are:
1) less copper cross section to conduct current
2) constant power to load
3) constant rotating magneic field

Re: poly phase

Each stage can have a larger active time period and non-overlap clock restriction can be avoided.

Re: poly phase

Also the machine(generator) rated power to size ratio is maximum for three phase system.

Re: poly phase

sam khan,
Polyphase motors are inherently self-starting.
.
In the case of 3-phase motors, the direction of rotation can be changed by reversing the connections to eny two phases.
.
For a balanced load Wye connection, the neutral current is zero.
For a balnced load Delta connection, the circulating current is zero.
.
For simple rectifier type DC power supplies the ripple is low, even with no filtering.
