Hello!
What the benefits of teardrops utilization? When I can use this function satisfactorily? What the pros and against?

Thanks, Gorkin!

the benefit pcb teardrops

Teardrop helps in high frequency (smooth angle change will reduce frequency reflect)
and prevent track break at the connect point with via.

Re: Protel99SE Teardrops

The ONLY purpose of a teardrop is to provide a stronger mechanical attachment point between a trace and a via or pad. They are most often used in places where a thin trace meets a large diameter thru-hole pad, or places where there will be mechancial stress between a pad and trace. An example would be the signal pad on a BNC socket with an 8-10 mil trace coming into it. Without a teardrop, repeated flexing of the PCB at the socket could break the joint between the trace and the connector pad - the teardrop distributes the force and strengthens the joint.

Contrary to what you might hear from others, teardrops have nothing to do with signal integrity. They do not improve frequency response, nor do they preserve trace impedance. They are only used for mechanical strengthening of trace terminations.

Protel99SE Teardrops

tear drops are mostly used in rf circuits.because they offer less resistance than ordinary tracks.by using normal track edges u will getsome extra resistance.they also provide better connection.
