what is mean by an open n closed circuit???
 

An open circuit is one that has no path for current

A closed circuit is one that has a complete path for current

is just like a bridge broken from the center so that the trafic cannot flow simillarly in an open circuit the cuurent cannot flow and vic versa for closed circuit

or we can also say that

open circuit= infinite resistance
closed circuit=zero resistace(short.!)

But, physically, there is neither absolute open nor absolute closed circuit.

open circuit means high resistance (ideally infinity)between them and closed circuit means very low(ideally zero) resistance.

Hi,

Open Circuit (OC) means no return path for the current and infinity resistance, while short circuit (SC) means there is a rturn path for the current and if there are no other resistances present then it shows zero (practically very low) resistance.
