mmoctar, maybe investigate these optional products:
Mathworks: Simulink HDL Coder
Mathworks: Filter Design HDL Coder
Mathworks: Link for ModelSim
Xilinx: System Generator for DSP
Al.tera: DSP Builder

Other MATLAB/HDL products available from various companies.

When I started this post 2 years ago there was not an option for programming FPGA's with LabVIEW (Xilinx FPGA's). But today this is possible; anyone who uses this tools?

I am using this in educational situations on spartan3E. If you want to do something with them please contact me.

It seems like the world is gowing to ESL tools to program FPGA's.

Like companies are saying we let software engineers program our chips :s

I'm working with System Generator and doing some audio processing algorithms and my boss was surprised when I told him that I don't need to do an AC97 Codec controller :D

don't worry..software engineers don't have enough background to program chips ;) or even know that they're not the potatoes that are fried and eaten...LOL!!

Hi

There is Lattice semiconductor also, dont think only altera and xilinx.

Note:
in lattice we have isp clock and isp power manger which were not in other companies.

Thanks

Both VHDL And Verilog are good. But as i experienced verilog is better for industries because it's very close to hardware and also it's very close to C! I know VHDL better than Verilog. But I prefer Verilog for my designs. It's more synthesizable. I love VHDL but i should say reality.
