Hai

I want to copy protect my distribution CDs.

My CD should not be copyable with nero or such similer disc copy tool.

I am not looking for a 1000$ dollar commercial solution used in Game Cds.

I have seen some locally burn CDs (not punched) which cannot be copied. They wont get copied in a burning software.Some files can be copied using copy command and some otheres wont.(They will display some sort of CRC error or something when we try to copy)

I am not trying to protect my CD from an experienced programer or hacker for that matter (I know it is almost impossible). But I want to prevent simple casual persons who just use nero or copy to do it. If they encounter resistence they will surely quit.

(minimum wish!:D )

Suggessions please

See, I am not looking for a high end solution like https://www.star-force.com/

Which is very costly and handles 1000 of copies.

As I mentioned already I have seen local cd,s with such small a trick .

The purpose I intend is only comparable to a dog maintained as a deterent for theifes.

No dog will serve a fortress to a professional killer ,but petty thiefs will stay away from a dog.

may be some codes in the creation of the main executable in the cd itself.I am not sure

Hi, I know what you want but the problem is you can't create this with a normal copy program you need special software for this and a normal CDR !. I do not know if this software is out there but its possible (worked in this field and have patents on my name in this field :).

Any CD or DVD can be copied ..
Maybe you should consider USB/serial/parallel dongle ..

@PaulHolland

You are right ! But after years of studying I have found a few techniques which also let's one use a NORMAL CDR and normal CD Burning software.

ALtough, the best protection I made till date required special CDs :)

I would definitely like to keep in touch with you about this interest of ours :)

@IanP

Right On !

Any CD or DVD can be copied.

But then does it not matter if the resulting CD/DVD is usable or not ;)

Got it ?

Will be interested to see and meet (shake hands) with the first person to copy Blueray disks (cracked) :)...

And for CD and DVD they can be secure, CD is more of a problem since there is a large install base of players and we can only modify the standard in a way that normal players work fine and copy players fail to do there work.

Paul.
