After i charged my MB bios, and it worked well, i tried to make fresh installation of Windows XP, but when i boot from Windows XP Pro CD, setup hangs displaying a blank black screen right after displaying: “Setup is inspecting your computer’s hardware configuration”
I tried it many times, using different CD-ROMs and differnet Windows CDs and versions, all the same..!
What may the problem be due to?
It's the first time I face this sitiwation, i.e. it didn't happen before BIOS charging, may BIOS be the responsible? Or it's just to initiate HW of PC? I don't understand it well..!!

Thank you in advance for help..
Ahmad,

if you were installing Linux you may have boot sector information left over from your Linux . if this is your case, you have to delete the active partitions and make a new ones

Yes, I have Linux installed, but it was installed before i re-charge BIOS, and i was always able to install Windows without problems!

Are u sure it's linux issue?

there are many topics on the internet adressing the issue of Linux, google for "Setup is inspecting your computer’s hardware configuration" you will find topic on that issue.

Why did you flash your bios? was it to fix a problem or was it just because there was an update and you wanted to try?

I generally do not update my bios umless I'm having issues.

If you didn't have problems, you could try reverting ot your old bios (I hope you kept a backup, which you should always do when flashing) and see if it works again.

This is also a possible cause/solution:

As amrbem said, I think it's linux issue. Do what he said, make a search on the internet and you will find topic on that issue.

Take a look at this link's:

After you re installing your windows xp, you must work re make your boot info in mbr. Becouse when you install Windows XP it write boot info. If you don´t do it, it's possible that you PC always start only with XP.

if it's an mbr issue wich it probably is do these things:
delite all of your windows partitions fat and ntfs, use fdisk for this, then clean your mbr with fdisk (A:>fdisk.exe /mbr), then recreate your windows partitions and install windows. You can recreate your partitions with fdisk or with the xp setup cd.

p.s. get a Win98se or WinMe startup disk, it includes fdisk and a few other usefull apps not included in win 2000 and above.

why do you have to completely delete the partition ? .. and for those who do have laptops with no floppy drive, what can they do ?

Ok if you don't have a floppy drive U can use an bootable CD or DVD like "Bart Pe" or "O & O BlueCon" or a Live Linux CD like Knoppix or Ubuntu.

I've had this problem when trying to make a clean install of Windows after installing a Linux OS, the problem is with the partitioning the disk, sometimes the wrong parameters of the partitions will be written in the mbr eg. the beginning and the end of a particular partition, and unless U have the exact details of the partitions size U will be just waisting time trying to fix this, Windows installation will hang during this
(happened to me, and after using a large variety of bootable CD's and partitioning util's I found the only way arround this is to clean your mbr and start over)

p.s. if you know the partition that is causing the problems you can delete only this partition but I'm not sure if this will fix your problems.
anyway google for "Bart PE" and XPE ask a friend and get this live WindowsXP cd, compile it with Paragon HDD Manager and biffore doing anything check your HDD.
