Why is it necessary to use pads for IC's when mounting them on Vero board ? I have heard they get short circuited. Is that really the reason? If so why do they get short circuited ?

Thanx in advance

Pads of IC's

The pad in IC is for bonding the circuit's terminal to outside world. I can not understand what you are saying about the short circuit, please elaborate that

Re: Pads of IC's

what i actually mean is that on a vero board why is it necessary to use pad? why it can not be used like a resistor or a capacitor ?

Re: Pads of IC's

There are 2 main reasons.

1. Using a pad alowes the IC to be replaced latter in case of damage.

2. If u place the chip directly on the board u may over heat it when soldering.

pads ovoid this
