i think there is a book you can download from EDA books and upload section......

search this sub-forum..there are also slides regarding PLI and its functions.......

BTW,
Why r u refering to Verilog PLI.
use system verilog, better language with more features.

Did you consider using the DPI ? It's much easier to learn and has better performance

DPI is not a true replacement to PLI/VPI. Yes there is some overlap, but DPI is for functional level interaction and VPI is for signal/design hierarchy level interaction.
