What's the advantage of using pga in sigma-delta modulator?

hi all,

there is a pga(programmable gain amplifier) in front of sigma-delta modulator.
who will tell that the advantages of using pga?

pga in modulator

little signal can be amplified to large signal for later processing. larger signal can be adjusted too.

so you can process a larger dynamic range.
