Hi all,

I want to know how TE10 and TE01 mode waves will resonate at different frequencies. I feel very happy if u give mathematical explanation too.

waiting for replies,
kishore.

Dear kishore
i think you talk about rectangle wave guide , for a wave guide its dimensions a*b
the TE10 wave length dependent on a , while TE01 wave length dependent on b

so if you design a square wave guide the TE10& TE01 will have the same resonance frequency
Thanks
Amr

Hello kishorekumar_ms !!!

As, armsgroup has mentioned, you probably need to understand the propagation instead of resonance of a given TEmn mode in waveguide.

In this case you need a WG (wave guide) with a x b dimensions which sets the frequencies in a TEmn modes (or TMmn modes).
Look at Microwave Engineering books for the theory. Just remember that the EM (Electro Magnetic) waves exists when they propagates in WG which has the dimension for the EM wavelength (in the dominant modes) and there is a cut off frequency which sets the minimum frequency of the EM waves that can be propagate inside the WG.
In the attached file you will see the formulation for the discrete modes of any WG with a x b dimensions.
That's how different modes (TEmn or TMmn modes) have different frequencies.

If you want to know the resonance you have to “cut” the waveguide and make the z-direction finite so a TEnmp or TMnmp will be created, which defines the resonances modes frequencies. But this is another thing.

Hope you got the idea,
Itzik
