Dear all,

I have been studying on HFSS for my master thesis for 2 months.
What I have to do is to simulate slot arrays on waveguide and radiation from these arrays.
I need to open holes on a wave guide, unfortunately could not succeed it yet.
Nobody was able to explain it to me :(((
I have tried
1-) to substract rectangle (hole) from box (waveguide) (it was unsuccessfull and i gave it up)
2-) to create all the project by using rectangles instead of boxe.
In this case, there is no "solve in" option.

as a result i am in trouble.

can anyone explain me how do open a hole on a box? (of course there must exist the solve inside option)

waiting your comments

Regards

Re: HFSS trick!

hi
define a box as your WG.
define the material that fills it.
change selection mode to faces instead of objects
select the faces of box that are usual without slot
assign Perfect Electric boundary condition
NOW FOR SLOTTED FACES OF YOUR WG:
define a usual rectangle (No 1) exactly where it is
subtract another rectangle (No2) (YOUR SLOT) from No1 rectangle.
just select your slotted No1 rectangle
assign Perfect E to it

alert me if it failed so that i can help further

Re: HFSS trick!

I did a simple calculation of radiation from slotted coaxial line about half a year ago.
See attached hfss project...

I am using HFSS 9.1 and can not open your file?
can you send it compatible with HFSS 9.1
